  • Description

A group of 34 British Asians, return to Nairobi after being refused entry into Britain - and were promptly declared prohibited immigrants. They were put back on their plane. They are believed to be the largest group so far to be shuttled back and forth between Europe and Africa until a solution to their problem is found.

Nairobi Airport sources said the party, which included three women, continued their flight to Rwanda and Burundi and would head for Brussels again later via Nairobi.

It was expected that the immigrants would then be sent on to London again from Brussels by another plane.

The group were refused entry into Britain after they arrived last Saturday (May 30) by way of Vienna and Brussels. British immigration laws restrict entry of British Asians from East Africa to an annual 1,500 holders of work vouchers.

Some 100,000 Asians in Kenya hold British Passports.
