President Albert Bernard Bongo of Gabon met French President Pompidou at the Elysee Palace in Paris on Thursday (22 June). And high among the topics of discussion between the two leaders was Franco-Gabonese cooperation.
The Gabonese leader told reporters that during his more than an hour with President Pompidou, the two men spoke about issues of economic and cultural relations. Among the specific projects discussed were the Trans-Gabon railway and the Poubara Dam, which will supply electric power to uranium and manganese mines in the region.
President Bongo expressed satisfaction with his country's economic growth, and made particular references to the mining and petroleum industries.
The Gabonese leader also told reporters he supported the decisions taken at the recent summit of the Organisation of African Unity in Rabat in which he'd taken part.
