    GV Lord Derby speaks:- "It was long as 184 years ago that Joshua Hope a Liverpool trader gave up his business to concentrate entirely in buying cotton on commission for Manchester's merchants. In doing this he became the first cotton broker, & the Liverpool Market was born."
