REPORTER: "There's no lack of action within the compound. The sound of the nightly open air concerts in the amphitheatre with internationally popular groups like the Canadian group "Blood Sweat and Tears". Such occasions are intended to nurture brotherhood and goodwill and they do not mention the many romances that have developed amongst and between the various national teams. For those athletes who don't get enough exercise on the playing fields, there's always one of the two village discotheques - the only difference between this and a club in Montreal - no alcohol. Athletes must make do with the soft drinks of the official suppliers. Lack of intoxicants doesn't seem to inhibit the dance floor activity. There's another music activity for those who prefer more tranquil surroundings. Recovering from or anticipating events they can relax in darkened booths temporarily illuminated for our cameras and listen to their favourite groups.
The looks on the faces giving no indication of the level of sound in the headsets. While the athletes do their thing inside the Olympic village, the Montrealers and thousands of sports fans in town for games have taken to the down town streets for their dark hours activity. They either entertain themselves or watch such things as strolling jugglers who seem prepared to perform for any size crowd at any time of the night or day ... or the amusingly bizarre one-man morality play who calls himself "the generous angel". Then there are the musicians like this group called "France" who are here as part of the International Youth Camp, being held in conjunction with the Olympics."
