  • Description

Two-thousand villagers in North Nigeria, made homeless when a disastrous fire swept their village, have started rebuilding the hundreds of huts destroyed by the flames. But their work has been badly hampered by the shortage of water in the area.

In several hours, the fire had reduced the village of Dantudu, North Central State, to the charred shells of the huts. Food-stores and stocks of seed were devastated. Livestock died in the flames. And things look bleak for the village, even though district authorities have promised aid.
