  • Description

Tonight, news of a world marching record set up by a twenty-four-years-old frogman in the Royal Marine Reserve --
Peter Degnan, from Tooting, in the centre. Paced by a team of other Marine volunteers he covered the hundred and ten miles from Poole, in Dorset, to Charing Cross in under thirty-six and a half hours. In private life a foundry worker, he arrived fresh but blistered. The march was an attack on the record of an American soldier who covered a hundred-and-four miles in just over forty hours. Another Marine failed to beat this last week. At Charing Cross, Degnan was interviewed by Donald Milner.
