At age 31, Bill Vukovich is prepared to make his strongest run in the Indianapolis 500. Vukovich finished second in 1973, third last year. This year, he will start in the middle of the third row with a qualifying speed of 185-point 845 miles an hour. Vukovich's father, Bill, Senior won back to Indy's in 1953 and 54 and was leading in 55 when he was killed in a multi-car accident.
