SYNOPSIS: Namur, near Brussels, where on Sunday, the nineteen-seventy-five World Motocross Champion, Roger de Coster, won the European Grand Prix, riding a Suzuki. De Coster only had four penalty points awarded against him. Second was Jaak van Velthoven of Belgium on a Yamaha with six penalty points.

Seen hero, number eighteen, Heikki Mikkola of Finland was another rider to give the champion strong competition. But although he won his heat -- overall, eight penalty points were marked against him. Fourth was Hentert Schmitz of West Germany with six penalty points; fifth, Arne Lodal of Denmark with twenty-five penalty points and sixth, Anatoly Botchkov of the Soviet Union with twenty-six penalty points.

At one stage it looked as though the Grand Prix might be cancelled when some riders said the track was too dry for safety. The Grand Prix was held up for two hours, before the final go-ahead was given. Frans Sigmans of Holland rode well here, but did not feature in the final championship table.

Despite fears about track safety, there were no serious accidents during the Grand Prix. For de Coster, the five hundred CC European Championship win came as the season ends -- the last contest in the nineteen-seventy-five World Championship takes place in Luxembourg next Sunday.
