Britain's Labour party leader,s Hugh Gaitskell and Aneurin Bevan, on a ten-day visit to the Soviet Union, toured an exhibition of Russian economic achievements in Moscow August 30 - day of their arrival.

The Labour visitors showed particular interest in the Science pavilion where models of Soviet Sputniks, and parts of rockets recovered after being fired into space, were on view. The nose cone of the satellite that carried the "space" dogs into orbit .. was also on exhibition. At the "Uzbekistan" pavilion the Labour leaders sampled melons and raisins -- Mrs Gaitskell was given an embroidered Uzbek cap.

On arrival at Moscow airport, Mr. Bevan emphasized: "We are not members of the Government. But we are representatives of the working class movement and wish to express their ardent desire for a permanent peace." Mr. Gaitskell added: "This is a most exciting occasion because it is my first visit to your country. We have not come to negotiate".

Gaitskell and Bevan are to meet Soviet Premier Khrushchev August 25 when they hope to put the British Labour Party's nuclear disarmament plant to the Russian leader.
