    SUDAN PRIME MINISTER MOHAMMED AHMED MAHGOUB ON SUNDAY (JUNE 2) FORMED A NEW COALITION CABINET AFTER A WEEK OF CONSULTATIONS WITH PARTY LEADERS. HIS 16 NEW MINISTERS INCLUDE NINE FROM THE UNITED DEMOCRATIC PARTY, FIVE FROM THE FACTION OF THE UMMA PARTY AND TWO FROM THE SOUTHERN FRONT PARTY.

    MR MAHGOUB, AN UMMA LEADER, WAS RE-ELECTED PRIME RESULTING FROM ELECTIONS LAST MONTH. THE MAIN TASK OF THE NEW ASSEMBLY IS TO GIVE SUDAN A NEW CONSTITUTION.

    THE NEW CABINET INCLUDES EIGHT NEW MINISTERS. THE REST, INCLUDING THE MINISTERS OF FINANCE, INFORMATION, THE INTERIOR AND LABOUR, ARE FROM MR. MAHGOUB'S LAST CABINET. MR MAHGOUB WAS DUE TO ADDRESS PARLIAMENT ON THE POLICIES OF HIS NEW GOVERNMENT TOMORROW (WEDNESDAY).

    PRESIDENT ISMAIL EL AZHARI ATTENDED THE SWEARING IN CEREMONY IN THE CAPITAL AND MET THE NEW MINISTERS.
