  • Description

Israel Foreign Minister Abba Eban warned the United Nations General Assembly yesterday ( Tuesday ) that the Afro-Asian draft resolution on extending the Arab-israeli ceasefire was unacceptable. He claimed it did not reaffirm selected from it to suit Arab interests. Mr. Eban was giving his government's view on the three draft resolutions proposed by 19 Afro-Asian countries, 20 South American and Caribbean countries and the U.S.A. respectively.

All three draft resolution contain the proposal that the three-month ceasefire, which runs out at 22.00 GTM on Thursday (November the 5th ), be extended by another three months.

The Israel Foreign Minister also complained that the Afro-Asian draft resolution ignored the fact that Israel had refused to resume the peace talks under the U.N. until the alleged Egyptian ceasefire violations had been "rectified". The Afro-Asian proposals press for resumption of the peace talks immediately.
