The co-leader of the Rhodesian Patriotic Front, Joshua Nkomo, has arrived in Vietnam for an eight-day visit.
The co-leader of the Rhodesian Patriotic Front, Joshua Nkomo, has arrived in Vietnam for an eight-day visit. Mr Nkomo whose guerrilla forces are waging a war on Rhodesia from bases in Zambia, is attending a meeting of the Presidium of the Organisation of Solidarity of Peoples of Asia and Africa. On his way to Vietnam, Mr Nkomo paid a brief visit to the Soviet Union.
SYNOPSIS: On his arrival in Moscow on Thursday (11 January), Mr Nkomo was greeted by Soviet officials and representatives of the Soviet Asia and Africa Solidarity Committee. The Patriotic Front leader was last in Moscow eight months ago, when he held talks with Mr Boris Ponamaryov, an alternate member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.
This time, mr Nkomo's visit was more brief. After a few hours in Moscow, the guerrilla leader left on another flight, bound for Hanoi.
