    FORMER SCREEN CHILD STAR SHIRLEY TEMPLE BLACK TOOK HER SEAT YESTERDAY AS ONE OF SIX UNITED STATES DELEGATES TO THE 24TH SESSION OF THE UNITED NATIONS ASSEMBLY. SHORTLY BEFORE, MRS. BLACK FACED THE RIGOURS OF HER FIRST PRESS CONFERENCE AS A DIPLOMAT.

    MRS. BLACK SPOKE IN GENERAL TERMS OF THE UN ROLE FOR PEACE, AND SAID THAT SHE FELT HER TRAINING AS A WIFE AND HOUSEWIFE WOULD PROVIDE HER THE BASIC REQUIREMENTS FOR UN HIGH DIPLOMACY.

    DURING THE THREE-MONTHS ASSEMBLY, MRS. BLACK WILL DEAL WITH QUESTIONS OF HUMAN ENVIRONMENT AND SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC ADVANCEMENT.
