    Civil Defence?

  • Description

Civil Defence, and military training are now obligatory for students attending colleges in Jordan.

Civil Defence is taught in all three secondary school years--and students are required to pass examinations in the subject in all but the final year. Failure in the examination means the student is not promoted into the next class.

Civil Defence includes advanced First Aid courses--and, for boys, subjects such as firefighting.

Military training is confined to the two final years of secondary education. During that time, students receive more than two hundred lessons in the subject--ranging from marching, to rifle practice using live ammunition. Examinations are sat at the end of each year--and a pass is necessary at the end of the first twelve months if the students is to move into the next class.

Those who pass the final examination in military training receive a diploma.
