SYNOPSIS: Colonel Muammar Gaddafi, the Libyan president, is in Egypt for talks with President Anwar Sadat. He arrived on Wednesday, and it's expected the two leaders will be joined by President Hafez Al-Assad of Syria, though there's no indication when they will all be together. They'll be holding a formal session of the Presidential Council of the Federation of Arab Republics, which links their three countries.

Colonel Gaddafi end President Sadat have already been discussing the Middle East situation, particularly the recent Israeli attacks on Lebanon and Syria. Another obvious subject for discussion, is President Sadat's recent proposal that the Palestinian leaders should form a provisional government. The armed conflict between Northern and Southern Yemen, and the currently-strained relations between Sudan and the Libya-Egypt alliance, are also on the agenda.
