    Soon after his Feb 16 1960 arrival in Rangoon for a one and a half day visit to Burma, Premier Nikita Khrushchev of the USSR drove to President Win Maung's home where he stayed during the visit.

    Later that same evening he was visited by former Burmese Premier U Nu, leader of the "Clean" Anti-Fascist People's Freedom League, who were victorious in the Feb 6 general elections.

    The following day - Feb 17 - was rather a strenuous one for the visiting Russian leader. In the morning eh laid a wreath at the mausoleum of Burmese national hero, General-Aung San - assassinated in 1947. He was accompanied by Chief Justice U Hyint Thein. The highlight of his afternoon visit to the Institute of Technology - one of three Soviet gift projects under construction around Rangoon was a tree planting ceremony.

    In the evening of Feb 17, Premier Khrushchev was guest of honour at a garden party on the lawn of the President's residence, where he was able to hold long informal talks with General Ne Win, ruler of Burma for the past fifteen months.

    Early the following morning - Feb 18 - the Russian leader boarded his Ilyushin aircraft at Rangoon Airport and flew off on a twelve day visit to Indonesia. After Indonesia he will fly back to Calcutta, India, for brief talks with Premier Nehru, and then on to Afghanistan to end his three-week Asian tour.
