TRANSCRIPT: SEQ. 2: BRUCE: "Well, I just want to feel that I haven't grown old in spirit and age means nothing. I can prove it today, I hope."

REPORTER: "You're planning to loop the loop out there are you....."

BRUCE: "Well that's just to show I can do that too."

REPORTER: "Are you also planning to do any of the stunts you did when you were in the flying circus."

BRUCE: "Oh no, I haven't got that sort of plane."

    SPEAKING IN 1933:

SEQ. 4: BRUCE: "We hope to beat the American record of 23 days and 23 nights. While I'm sleeping my husband of course will take over and when he has finished his flying Flight-Lieutenant Peel will relieve him and that way we'll carry on probably on a four-hour shift."

"Weighted down with 120 gallons of petrol, the three pilots and a black cat for luck the plane takes off."

Background: INTRODUCTION: An Englishwoman set out to prove yesterday (6 April) that life begins at 81. And she succeeded. Mrs. Mary Victor Bruce, a racing driver of the 1920s, looped the loop while piloting a light plane in Bristol, England. Mrs. Bruce was celebrating her return to flying after 37 years.

In her younger days, Mrs. Bruce once flew solo around the world. She was also a stunt flyer for a circus. So why after nearly 40 years did she fly again?
That was in 1933 during an endurance race. But she's 81 now and determined not to slow down because, she says, that is what kills you. Most of her records for speed endurance were set as the honourable Mrs. Victor Bruce. Her husband was the first Englishman to win the Monte Carlo rally.

At Bristol yesterday, Mrs. Bruce proved she's lost none of her star quality. She even looped the loop.

Afterwards she said she felt 50 years younger.
