    Manolis Glezos, 37 years-old hero of the Greek Resistance in World War II is being tried before a military court in Athens, Greece, on charges of assisting and hiding Communist spies.

    The trial of Manolis Glezos with seventeen others began on July 9 and has gone on unceasingly day and night, Sundays included, ever since.

    Glezos, who pleads not guilty of espionage, became a national hero in 1941 when, in a night raid he pulled down the swastika over the Acropolis in German-occupied Athens.

    The Royal Prosecutor at the court-martial demands five years imprisonment for Glezos, and the death penalty for two of his fellow-accused.

    During the guerrilla struggle against the Communists in Greece, 1947-48, Glezos was condemned on charges of subversive activities, but was released after two years in prison is view of his activities in World War II.
