Background: A week-long tour of Holland was the prize for the best eleven competitors in the Children International Painting Competition organised by K.L.M. and the Statesman. The top artist of the finalists was Shama Marr from Delhi, India. This is not the first award that she has obtained for her artistic works. So far she has won three competitions in India.

Other prize winners now touring Holland were, Greta Andersen from Germany, Ann Blumenfeld from the USA, Ugo Bevilacqua of Italy and Mitsuk Higashimura of Japan.

Their tour included visits to the Hague and Rotterdam as well as Amsterdam. Most of their time will be spent in famous Dutch museums, schools and exhibitions, ending with a tour of the 1958 International Exhibition at Brussels, over the border.

The most pleasurable part of their Dutch tour was the trip on the canals, through old Amsterdam, where the waterfront is bordered by fine examples of seventeenth Century Dutch architecture. They saw a little of the industrial establishments that stand at the side of the canals also.
