  • Description

Just a year ago Feb 8 1958 the world was aghast when the French aircraft crossed the border from French held Algeria into Independent Tunis and bombed the Tunisian village of Sakiet Sidi Youssef, killing 75 people - including women and children - wounding a further 85. Official French explanation was that French aircraft had been fired upon from the village and used as a training camp base for marauding Algerian rebels.

Visnews cameras returned to Sakiet Feb 1 and filmed the resurrection. Villagers are industriously excavating foundations and erecting new homes for survivors of the hour long "Rain of Death". Financial and material aid has poured in from all parts of the sympathetic world.
