    Background: Recent Visnews film shows the Short SX-A5 "Seacat" surface-to-air missile, built by Short Brothers, being fired during tests at the Aberporth missile range, North Wales. The Seacat is being developed to replace the 40 mm anti-aircraft guns on British warships.

    The missile's primary purpose is to attack aircraft that may be evade the outer defensive fighters and long-range guided weapons. It will also provide an anti-aircraft armament for small ships.

    The Short SX-A5 may also be developed as a land based missile under the name "Tigercat".
