    THE JAPANESE PRIME MINISTER, MR. HAYATO IKEDA, WHO ARRIVED IN AMERICA JUNE 19 ON A TEN-DAY OFFICIAL VISIT, MADE HIS FAREWELL TO PRESIDENT KENNEDY JUNE 23 AFTER THREE DAYS OF TALKS AT THE WHITE HOUSE.

    MR.IKEDA, WHO LEFT WASHINGTON BY AIR, WAS DUE IN OTTAWA JUNE 25 FOR OFFICIAL TALKS WITH MR. DIEFENBAKER, THE CANADIAN PRIME MINISTER.

    A JOINT COMMUNIQUE ISSUED BY THE JAPANESE PREMIER AND MR. KENNEDY AFFIRMED THE DETERMINATION OF THE UNITED STATES AND JAPAN TO INTENSIFY THEIR JOINT EFFORTS TOWARDS PEACE AND SUPPORT TOWARDS PEACE AND SUPPORT THE STRENGTHENING OF THE NATIONS. THEY "EXPRESSED THEIR CONCERN OVER THE UNSTABLE ASPECTS OF THE SITUATION IN ASIA."
    THEY ALSO AGREED TO HOLD CLOSE CONSULTATIONS IN THE FUTURE TO DISCOVER WAYS IN WHICH STABILITY MAY BE ACHIEVED IN THE FAR EAST.

    THE COMMUNIQUE SAID THERE WAS AN EXAMINATION OF THE VARIOUS PROBLEMS RELATING TO COMMUNIST CHINA IN THE DISCUSSION OF THE ASIAN SITUATION.
