SYNOPSIS: Among the Saudi ruler's visitors on Monday (21 March) was Qatar's Foreign Minister, Sheikh Suhaim Bin Hamad Al-Thani. Sheikh Al-Thani is just one of a steady stream of high-ranking diplomats, politicians and heads of state who have called on King Khalid during his stay in hospital. No details are being officially released about matters discussed with his visitors.
Several Arab dignitaries have visited the King, including King Hussein of Jordan, the Prime Minister of the Yemen Arab Republic, Abdel-Azziz Abdel-Ghani; and the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al-Salem. During the Emir of Kuwait's visit, the two leaders are reported to have held talks on a range of subjects including the Middle East peace question.
Another visitor of Monday (21 March) was the Somali ambassador to London, Mr. Ahmed Mohamed Aden. Other foreign officials to visit the Saudi head of state include the Filipino Minister of Energy, Geronimo Belasco, and the new British Foreign Secretary, Dr. David Owen.
According to same reports Crown Prince Fahd, heir to the Saudi throne, has postponed a visit to the United States next month because of King Khalid's condition. Saudi sources in Washington, the U.S. capital, said the Prince did not like to be out of the country while King Khalid was still in hospital. Although the monarch is said to be in good condition, he expected to remain in London for some time to recuperate.
