    IN NEW DELHI YESTERDAY (SUNDAY), A CROWD OF 50,000 GATHERED IN THE CITY'S RAM LILA GROUNDS FOR AN ANTI-CHINESE DEMONSTRATION.

    THE DEMONSTRATORS MARCHED IN PROCESSION THROUGH THE STREETS TO THE MEETING PLACE. AMONG THEM WERE MANY YOUNG GIRLS CARRYING BANNERS WITH THE SLOGAN "IN THOUGHT, WORD AND DEED SERVE INDIA". A SMALL BOY DRESSED AS A SOLDIER AND A GIRL IN NURSE'S UNIFORM SYMBOLISED "INDIA'S FIGHTING SPIRIT".

    MRS. INDIRA GANDHI, PRIME MINISTER NEHRU'S DAUGHTER, WAS AT THE RAM LILA GROUNDS TO ADDRESS THE CROWD. THEY REPEATED AFTER HER A PLEDGE "NOT TO REST UNTIL THE CHINESE AGGRESSORS HAVE BEEN DRIVEN OUT OF INDIAN TERRITORY". SIMILAR MEETINGS WERE HELD IN OTHER PARTS OF DELHI BY THE CITIZENS' COUNCIL.

    THE SAME DAY, POLISH FOREIGN MINISTER ADAM RAPACKI -- ON AN OFFICIAL VISIT TO INDIA -- HAD LUNCH WITH MR. NEHRU AND SOVIET COSMONAUT ANDRIAN NIKOLAYEV WHO ARRIVED IN DELHI ONLY AN HOUR EARLIER. THE RUSSIAN SPACEMAN WAS ON HIS WAY TO INDONESIA.

    BEFORE LUNCH, MR. RAPACKI AND THE INDIAN PRIME MINISTER ARE UNDERSTOOD TO HAVE REVIEWED THE INTERNATIONAL SITUATION WITH PARTICULAR REFERENCE TO DISARMAMENT AND THE RAPACKI PLAN FOR A NUCLEAR-FREE ZONE IN EUROPE.
