Background: SYNOPSIS: Aboard the yacht "Northwind" Mrs. Jacqueline Kennedy sailed into Cape Kennedy sailed into Cape Sunium, June eleven, for a visit to the Temple of Neptune.
After a private greeting aboard the yacht Mrs. Kennedy came ashore with Greek Prime Minister Karamanlis and his wife. The wife of the American President has been on a cruise of the Aegean aboard the "Northwind", which Mr. Karamanlis put at her disposal.
The Temple of Neptune stands on a rocky promontory above the Cape. It was fortified by walls and towers in four-hundred and thirteen B.C. It remained a fortress until the fourth century, although it changed hands several times. Mrs. Kennedy greatly admired the nine colonnades on the south side of the temple. The huge columns of white marble have been worn by the weather throughout the centuries. Mrs. Kennedy leaves Athens on June fourteen, on her return to Washington.
