  • Description

The Franco-FLN talks to attempt a cease-fire in the Algerian war, will begin at Evian - a French resort on the shores of Lake Geneva - April 7. The FLN (National Liberation Front) delegates of the Algerian "Provisional Government" will be staying in Switzerland, crossing the lake by motorboat.

In Geneva, the Press centre for the conference will be at the Electoral Palace. Some delegates will stay in the city. And eight kilometres away, some of the Algerian delegates will move into the Villa Sans Soucis, belonging to the Emir of Qatar. The villa, on the lake, has its own harbour.

The third villa reserved for the nationalists is at Versoix, and is also owned by the Emir. In each case, helicopters would be able to land and take off in the grounds of the villas should the need arise.
