    During a brief visit to Kenya, His Royal Highness Prince Bornhard of the Netherlands signed an agreement between the Kenyan Government and the World Wildlife Fund, of which he is President, to enlarge Lake Nakuru National Park and establish the Baharini Wildlife Sanctuary.

    The agreements were signed on Tuesday (28 August) at the Norfolk Hotel in Nairobi. Mr. J.L.M. Shalko, Minister of Tourism and Wildlife, signed the agreement for Kenya.

    On Wednesday, Prince Bernhard flow to Mombasa whore he presented President Kenyatta with a cheque for GBP 172,500 - the sum of money needed to buy the necessary land to enlarge the National Park. Most of the money was raised by school children in several West European countries.

    Once the new land has been acquired, the National Park will cover nearly 51,000 acres. The Park will incorporate woodlands, Lake Nakuru, and bushlands.

    The Baharini Wildlife Sanctuary is an integral part of the expansion scheme. It is being set up as a non-profit making organisation for scientific research, and conservation and wildlife education.
