  • Description

A three-man mission from Taiwan is in the Ivory Coast at the moment discussing investment in a new paper pulp factory in the southwest of the country.

On Friday (January 31), they met Ivorian President Felix Houphouet-Boigny to explain their ideas on the project.

The Taiwanese were led by the President of the Chung Hwa Pulp Corporation from Taiwan, which signed an agreement on paper processing with the Ivorian Government last March.

Since then, the Taiwanese have been running tests on using Ivorian wood for their pulp processing, and these seem to have produced largely positive results. The projected paper mill would be part of a GBP10 million sterling investment scheme Taiwan is making in the Ivory Coast.
