VISNEWS filmed recently in Belgrade, Yugoslavia, as President Tito received Ferhat Abbas, Premier of the Algerian Nationalist "provisional government". The meeting took place in Belgrade's White Palace -- Premier Abbas was accompanied by the secretary of his Government, Abdel Hafiz Busuf, and President Tito by several Yugoslav officials.
The Algerian leader arrived in Yugoslavia June 6 for the first visit of a tour to east European countries, and also, it is understood, to the Soviet Union. The visit is described as a "friendly one" arranged for an exchange of views.
Coinciding with the Tito-Abbas meeting came a warning from France's Premier Debre levelled at any country that aids the provisional government formed by National Liberation Front Leaders in Cairo last year. Government officials in Belgrade immediately retaliated with the statement that Algeria's struggle for freedom and independence was justified and in full accord with the United Nations Charter.
