    French President Charles de Gaulle - on the first day of his four-day visit to Washington, Apr 22 - called upon President Eisenhower at the White House for a 70-minute meeting. Afterwards, accompanied by an interpreter, he walked briskly through the White House lobby telling waiting reporters: "Nothing to say".

    Earlier, with Me de Gaulle, the President arrived in Washington for his first visit for 15 years and was warmly greeted by President Eisenhower. He was given an enthusiastic reception by great crowds as he drove in an open car through the city's streets.

    Main talks on Summit strategy and prospects will take place Apr 24, when President de Gaulle will be taken by president Eisenhower to Camp David, Maryland for the day. After the 4-day talks the French President will visit other American cities.
