    THE DANISH ENTRY "DANMARK", HERE SEEN NEARING THE FINISHING LINE IN LIGHT WINDS, HAD A TIME ADVANTAGE IN THE RACE WHICH BEGAN 3,600 MILES (5,790 KILOMETRES) AWAY IN LISBON IN MAY. OFFICIALS SAID THAT THE "DANMARK" WAS SECOND WHEN SHE CROSSED THE FINISHING LINE ON TUESDAY.

    FIRST PLACE WENT TO THE 676 TON NORWEGIAN SQUARE-RIGGER "CHRISTIAN RADICK", WHICH CROSSED THE FINISHING LINE EARLY ON TUESDAY, 25 DAYS AFTER SHE LEFT LISBON.

    THE SHIPS IN THE RACE REPRESENT FIVE NATIONS: WEST GERMANY, DENMARK, NORWAY, PORTUGAL AND ARGENTINA. THEY WILL LEAVE BERMUDA SOON TO RACE TO NEW YORK. ALL ARE NAVAL TRAINING VESSELS.
