  • Description

Canada beat Sweden in an ice-hockey match on sunday (29 September) when the Canadians struggled against a well-matched team to take a final winning, goal minutes from the end in the third period.

The first three goals all belonged to Canada -- and they scored them all in the first period. But in the second period Sweden scored one through Bjoern Johnansson, and early in the third period the Swedes scored another two goals to bring the score level -- three-all.

But later in the third period Canada's Frank Maholovic put the puck in the net within minutes of the final whistle to give his team the win.

SYNOPSIS: Canada, playing from right to left, met Sweden on sunday in one of a series of matches -- and began well with Bobby Hull, Mike Walston, and Gordie Howe scoring the first three goals of the match in the first period for the Maple-leaf team.

But in the third period the Swedes rallied again, to score twice more through Tord Lundstroem and Mats Ahlberg and bring the score level.
