  • Description

Refugees from the battle areas of South Vietnam continue to stream towards Saigon, despite heavy overcrowding in towns along the route.

Some small towns, which once had consisted of a few houses and a shop, have been flooded refugees from the north. Some have been travelling since the offensive began in March.

In one camp, about 30 miles northeast of the South Vietnamese capital, there are now over 17,000 refugees -- most of them from the areas around An Loc and Loc Ninh.

Several relief organisation -- the Red Cross, Buddhist and Catholic religious groups, and others -- are helping to supply essentials such as food and shelter to the refugees.

For some of the people, special camps are no novelty. They been moved ore than a few times since the Indochina offensive first began.
