    THE UNITED NATIONS SECURITY COUNCIL IS TO MEET THIS AFTERNOON (WEDNESDAY) TO DISCUSS A COMPLAINT BY JORDAN OF ISRAELI AGGRESSION..ISRAELI FORCES CROSSED THE BORDER AND CLASHED WITH JORDANIAN TROOPS IN THE MOUNT HEBRON AREA ON SUNDAY. IN THE FIERCE LAND AND AIR FIGHTING SEVERAL VILLAGES, INCLUDING SAMU, WERE SEVERELY DAMAGED.

    ISRAEL ANNOUNCED THAT THE OBJECT OF THE RAID WAS TO DEMOLISH HOUSES IN SAMU AND OTHER VILLAGES WHICH IT SAID WERE DEPARTURE BASES FOR SABOTEUR SQUADS ENTERING ISRAEL.

    ISRAEL CALLED ITA "RETALIATORY RAID", JORDAN REPLIED THAT IT WAS "INTERNATIONAL BANDITRY."
    THE OFFICIAL ISRAELI COMMUNIQUE SAID THE RETALIATORY FORCES, SUPPORTED BY TANKS AND PLANES SPENT FOUR HOURS IN JORDAN. SAMU WAS DESCRIBED AS THE MAJOR TARGET OF THE RAID. THE COMMUNIQUE CLAIMED THAT THE ISRAELI TROOPS ORDERED THE VILLAGERS OUT OF THEIR HOUSES BEFORE THE BUILDINGS WERE BLOWN UP. SEVERAL LORRIES AND OTHER VEHICLES IN THE VILLAGE WERE SET ON FIRE.

    JORDAN'S COMMUNIQUE ABOUT THE FIGHTING CLAIMED THAT THE ISRAELI TROOPS WERE HALTED BEFORE SAMU AND THAT HEAVY CASUALTIES WERE INFLICTED BY JORDANIAN REINFORCEMENTS BROUGHT INTO THE AREA.
