    Following talks between British Foreign Secretary Sir Alec Douglas-Home and President Zulfikar Bhutto in Pakistan early this week, the pakistani leader said he believed the two countries could have friendly relations of a positive nature. President Bhutto, who took Pakistan out of the British Commonwealth in January because he believed Britain was about to recognise Bangladesh, formerly part of Pakistan, also said his country desired good relations with others in the sub-continent.

    Sir Alec, who was in Pakistan for two days before flying on Tuesday (March 21) for talks in Israel, told a news conference in Lahore that he and President Bhutto had reviewed events on the sub-continent since the start of the Indo-Pakistan war late last year. He did not give any further details.

The two leaders were accompanied by teams of top officials during the discussions which lasted for the two hours on Monday and continued the following day. Sir Alec arrived on Sunday and left for talks in Israel on Tuesday He and President Bhutto discussed a win range of topics, including events on the Indian sub-continent since the start of the Indo-Pakistan war late last year. Earlier this year, n January, President Bhutto withdrew Pakistan from the British Commonwealth because he believed Britain was about to recognise Bangladesh formerly part of Pakistan, and the foca??? point of the war. But now, President Bhutto and Sir Alec say their two countries could have friendly relations. President Bhutto says he also wants friendly relations with his neighbours.
