Background: The United States boxer Jimmy Ellis was ejected from the training camp of his rival. Joe Frazier, during an incident last week while both fighters were preparing for their match in Melbourne on Saturday (2 March).
Frazier, the former World Heavyweight Champion, was sparring before a crowd of onlookers when Ellis walked into the training area to watch. Either Frazier or his trainers apparently objected to his opponent's presence and ordered him removed.
After talking to newsmen about the incident, Ellis went back to his own training camp for a sparring session.
When the two American fighters next met, it was in the same ring on Sunday (2 March), and Frazier again humiliated Ellis with a technical knockout in the ninth round of their scheduled 12-round, non-title fight.
