The audience responded magnificently -- a fitting tribute to the young dancer's movement and style. The judges were impressed too -- they awarded Danilo a first prize. It was presented to him by judges' chairman Yuri Grigorovich.

Another first prizewinner, Soviet Union dancer Nina Semizorova, with a variation of Khachaturyan's chipollino Ballet.

Nina was also well applauded as she stepped up to receive her award. She's a 21-year-old dancer with the Kiev ballet.

Soviet dancers dominated the first prize category. Alla Mikhalchenko, a 20-year old Bolshoil Ballet dancer was one of them. Also prominent in the awards -- the Moscow Musical Theatre's Mikhail Krapivin. He's 27.
