    The anthropologist, Prof. Gerasimov, held a news conference in the Soviet National Committee for Cultural Ties with Foreign Counties. He is famous for his work in restoring the image of people long dead from a study of their skull.

    The scholar told how he made a sculpture portrait recently of Ivan the Terrible and demonstrated the bust.

    Prof. Gerasimov has made 25 sculpture portraits in all. These include the Scythian king, Scilur, the Tajik poet, Rudaki, the Russian Prince, Yaroslav the Wise, the Middle Age conqueror, Tamerlane, Russian Admiral Fyodor Ushakov, and the German poet, Schiller.

    Prof. Gerasimov hopes to make a portrait of William Shakespeare from the great playwright's remains.
