    A FACTORY TEAM OF JAPANESE NISSAN CARS ARE COMPETING FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THE ELEVENTH EAST AFRICAN SAFARI RALLY, RECOGNISED AS ONE OF THE WORLD'S MOST GRUELLING INTERNATIONAL RALLIES.

    THE EVENT IS DUE TO BE RUN OVER 3,000 MILES OF ROUGH ROADS AND TRACKS THROUGH KENYA, UGANDA, AND TANGANYIKA.

    THE NISSAN TEAM OF DATSUNS AND CEDRICS HAVE BEEN PUTTING IN WEEKS OF PRACTICE OVER THE FIGURE-OF-EIGHT ROUTE, BASED ON NAIROBI. THEIR CREWS WERE THE FIRST OF 23 OVERSEAS DRIVERS TO ARRIVE IN KENYA.

    TWO WORKS-ENTERED DATSUN BLUEBIRDS ARE COMPETING IN THE MOST POPULAR CLASS (1,000-1,300 C.C) AGAINST 22 OTHER CARS, INCLUDING EIGHT VOLKSWAGENS, SOME FIATS, PEUGEOTS, AND MORRIS 1100's.
