    Finance Ministers of Central African states seem to have been optimistic about the economic situation in the countries following a meeting in Brazzaville during the past week.

    The Ministers were meeting as the Administrative Council of the Bank of Central African states. Though their session was held behind closed doors, the bank's board gave an indication of progress made in a communique released on Friday (3 May). It announced that the economic situation in member states was easing due to increased production and better export prices. Ministers in Brazzaville for the meeting were from Chad, Cameroun, Gabon, the Central African Republic and the Congo.
