Background: The Seefeld ski jump -- scene of the combination jumping and the 70-metre jump -- is ready for the 1976 Winter Olympics which begin in Innsbruck in February.

Little alteration has had to be made to the jump apart from the touch down which has been slightly altered in cross-section and the addition of a judges' tower on the west sides of the jump.

Already skiers are pouring into the popular ski resort town west of Innsbruck which will also be the site for the cross-country skiing events. They are already practising on the jump which will be the feature for the medium events. The longest jump is the Bergisel in Innsbruck.

One advantage Seefeld has is that snow falls are heavier and there is likely to be excellent levels in time for the Winter Olympics. There are fears that snow will have to be brought in to Innsbruck itself for many of the events.

SYNOPSIS: Preparations for the 1976 Winter Olympics in the Austrian Tirol are reaching peak. The competition opens in the world famous Alpine area in February. Although the centre will be Innsbruck, the small ski resort town of Seefeld to the west of the city will also feature prominently.

The main events here will be cross-country skiing and the medium ski jump. The Seefeld ski jump has proved to be a fist-class Olympic site. Many records have been broken here and it has been the scene of sensational Austrian team successes.

Already contestants are arriving to practise for the main competition day on the seventh of February.

These skiers are from Italy, Poland and Austria. Little alteration has had to be made to this jump. A new judges' tower had been built and the touch down slightly altered in cross-section.

The events that will take place here are the combination jumping and the 70-metre jump. The long jump is held on the Bergisel jump in nearby Innsbruck.
