President Lyndon Johnson enjoyed his airplane trip from Marietta, Georgia to Puerto Rico Saturday (March 2). The reason why? His eight month old grandson Patrick Lyndon was aboard the giant aircraft. It was the first time news cameramen were allowed to shoot film of the President of the United States playing with his grandson aboard a plane.
The President's grandson seemed to enjoy every moment with his grandfather; he didn't cry once.
While holding Patrick Lyndon on his knee, the President kissed his grandchild on the check several times.
During the trip to Puerto Rico, little Patrick Lyndon showed a fondness for his grandfather's private phone. Unable to talk, the baby babbled into the phone. The President, his aides and newsmen found Patrick Lyndon's antic adorable -- and set off some laughter.
The President is very proud of his first grandson. Patrick Lyndon is solidly constructed, weighing 30 pounds. He is also considered quite advanced. He tool his first steps at 6 months, and now -- two months later -- is walking.
