  • Description

In true American style, Republican Presidential candidate Richard Nixon set his campaign wheels rolling with a novel method of public relations. During his tour of all the Republican delegations Richard Nixon took along his photographer.

Not only did he shake hands with every delegate, but the US Vice-President was also photographed with each one. The beaming supporters were given two prints - one for their personal file - and one for editorial purposes. The delegates, when they return to their constituencies, send in the second print to their local newspapers. The paper, happy to show local personalities with a Presidential candidate, makes a big spread.

Two birds with one stone - or two Republicans with one shot - the local delegate has his picture printed in the local paper and Mr. Nixon receives an economical spread of election publicity to help his campaign.
