  • Description

Britain's Prime Minister, Mr Heath, took a break from his Commonwealth Conference problems on Sunday (17 January) and went to the Anglican Cathedral in Singapore, where he read a lesson. One of his more moderate African critics on the arms for South Africa issue is Ghana's Prime Minister, Dr Kofi Busia who told a Press conference that every country had a right to determine its own security interests.

Mr Heath was accompanied by the Foreign Secretary, Sir Alec Douglas-Home, at the cathedral. The lesson read by the Prime Minister concluded with the words "Love one another".

At the moment, however, Mr Heath is surrounded by critics because of his attitude over the arms for South Africa issue. One of them is Dr Busia who on Monday expressed opposition to Britain's policy but said he would not rush into any decision about leaving the Commonwealth.
