  • Description

A freshly-poured concrete roof, laced through with steel reinforcing rods, collapsed in Montreal, Canada, November 6, under a construction crew, killing three men and injuring twenty-two.

Police, firemen, and members of the construction gang used bulldozers, cutting torches and their own hands to probe the rubble. Ambulances stood by to rush injured survivors to hospital.

The building, a surgical supply company in east end Montreal, was scheduled to be completed in January. About fifty men were working on the site when it collapsed.
