Background: The Dukla pass - heroship and glory! The pass, where fifteen years age has in the heavy fights of the Soviet and our units aroused the liberty of the Czech and Slovakian people. Fifteen victorious years have passed... On the places of the heroic fights stand to-day the memorials of heroship, love for life and love for the liberty. And here, to this historical places has come the Party and Government delegation, handed by the member of the Polit-bureau of the Control Board of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia and the Deputy Chairman of the Government Comrade Kopecky, that together with the people of Czechoslov they shall celebrate the famous fifteenth anniversary of the Karpat-Dukla operation. Then has lead the way of the Party and Government delegation to the memorial of the Dukla Heroes. To their memory has bowed also the Soviet delegation and the delegation of the brotherly Peoples democratic armies. On the monumental memorial at the Svidnik has the delegation bowed to the memory of the Soviet Heroes. In the mutually spilled blood of the Soviet and our fighters has been born our liberty and the Socialistic present. The Svidnik's celebrations culminated by the manifestation. On behalf of the Party and Government delegation has spoken com??? de Vaclav Kopecky. Then has spoken the head of the Soviet delegation- Marshall Greeko. At the end of the manifestation have been according to the order of the President of the Republic and the Minister of National Defence been decorated 58 heroical Slovakian communities and 48 army units by the memorial Dukla medal.
