    Campaigning in South Vietnam's Presidential elections to be held in October has stepped up following the filing of nomination papers. The election has developed into a three way race with President Thieu being challenged by Vice-President Nguyen Cao Ky and General Duong Van Minh, leader of the 1963 coup against President Diem. General Minh is given better chances of beating President Thieu than the Vice-President. Yesterday both men were busy campaigning. The President addressed members of the country's self defence corps and was present at a medical student graduation, while General Thieu opened a new Dispensary wing in Saigon.

    SYNOPSIS: The South Vietnamese Presidential election campaign is moving into top gear following the lodging of nomination papers by the candidate President Nguyen Van Thieu, seen here at the presentation of degree to students at a medical college Saigon, has two opponents...his Vice-President, Nguyen Cao Ky, and General Duong Van Minh, who led the 1963 coup against President Diem. President Thieu has covered many miles and plans to cover many more during the campaign. Within hours of attending the graduation ceremony, he was addressing member of the country's self defence forces at a stadium.

    Meanwhile, General Minh has been campaigning just as hard. He opened a new wing at a hospital in Saigon. The General is talked of as the major threat to President Thieu's re-election. General Minh identifies himself as a "peace" candidate and will use the sign of two white doves for his election emblem.

    The rift between President Thieu and his Vice-President has widened in the past few months. With a the??? candidate in the running, the sta??? seems set for one of the toughest campaigns in the country's history.
