CEYLON THIS WEEK CELEBRATED THE 21ST ANNIVERSARY OF ITS INDEPENDENCE, WITH PARADES THROUGH SEVERAL CITIES AND TOWNS. IN KANDY, ABOUT 50 MILES (80 KMS.) FROM COLOMBO, CEYLONESE PRIME MINISTER DUDLEY SENANAYAKE AND OTHER MINISTER WATCHED A COLOURFUL PARADE INVOLVING THE ARMED FORCES AND THEIR MASCOTS.

LOCAL FARMERS AND THEIR WIVES WERE THE LAST TO MARCH PAST. AT ONE POINT IN THE CELEBRATIONS, MR.
