  • Description

An international symposium on the use of drugs by young people opened in Jerusalem on Thursday (August 13).

About 150 people, including delegates from the United States, Britain, Denmark, Canada, South Africa, Greece, Turkey and Australia Attended the two-day symposium which is devoted to every aspect of the drug problem as it affects youth.

Dr Louis Miller, Chairman of Israel's Mental health Service, and Chief Psychologist in the Israeli Health Ministry, opened the proceedings in the Van Leer Institute in Jerusalem.

He told his audience of doctors, scientists, and other experts dealing with the drug situation that even in Israel the drug problem was related to the International problem of the 'generation gap', which is widely thought to be absent from Israeli culture. There is now evidence that the new hashish smokers in Israel's secondary schools and universities are indeed in revolt their elders."
