Background: Rescue workers toiled throughout Tuesday, June 3rd, to take back to Guadalajara the 45 bodies of people killed in an aircrash 18 miles east of the Mexican industrial city.

The plane, a Constella??? airliner, crashed on a desolate mountain ten minutes after take-off from Guadalajara. It was carrying a crew of seven and 38 passengers, 14 of whom had boarded at Guadalajara on route for Mexico City.

Relatives, friends and rescue workers from a nearby village had to transport the bodies over miles of rough country, rocks and muddy mountain roads.

On leaving Guadalajara, the plane had run into a violent rain and lightening storm.
